    February 4-5, 2025

    Learning Tour Objectives:

    1. Equip participants with cutting-edge research, proven strategies, and practical tools to design, scale, and sustain effective educator preparation pathways that meet the needs of diverse communities.
    2. Provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas, share best practices, and build meaningful connections with peers, experts, and leaders across educator preparation and district partnerships.
    3. Explore and co-create forward-thinking approaches to residency implementation, strategic staffing, and pipeline development, with a focus on  sustainability and student-centered outcomes.
    4. Empower teams to reflect on their learnings, identify actionable steps, and leave with tailored strategies to enhance educator preparation efforts within their institutions and communities.

    Houston HEART brings together leaders from educator preparation programs and Houston-area community colleges to align their efforts in creating seamless, high-quality teacher preparation pipelines. The initiative focuses on removing barriers that hinder students from progressing through their Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) and teacher certification programs by addressing critical challenges in policy, advising, and transfer processes. HEART participants also utilize HB 8 funding and modeling to optimize resource allocation, shape funding opportunities, and advocate for scholarships that increase access. By uniting organizational strategies and financial supports, HEART seeks to establish scalable and sustainable systems that prepare and retain  effective educator workforce for Houston-area schools.
