their partnership. They shared their “why” for education, which set the foundation for their collective vision in preparing teachers for the needs of their PK-12 students. They began by discussing the benefits of their partnership for McNeese teacher candidates and Calcasieu Parish students, which exemplified the mutuality that will continue to sustain their work together. The Governance Meeting wrapped up with a series of commitments, the most important of which is to collectively work through the logistics of launching the pilot in the Fall of 2020. The McNeese Burton College of Education met with district partners from Calcasieu Parish School Board in a virtual Governance Meeting to talk about their upcoming residency pilot. Although the original meeting was planned for a traditional “in-person” meeting, these dedicated educators won't let anything stop them from coming together to dream big for
College of Education Dean, Dr. Angel Ogea stated, “Being able to design a residency experience through a shared decision-making team is imperative to the success of our teacher candidates and their future employees.” The partners felt that the governance meeting was a priority for them and were eager to plan and work together.
Dr. Terry Collins, Calcasieu Parish School Board Coordinator of Teacher and Leader Support commented, “CPSB looks forward to our strong partnership with McNeese State University as we focus our attention on developing highly qualified pre-service teachers who are prepared for the future workforce. This partnership is forged in high expectations and strategic support which will result in even stronger relationships, experiences, and success in the classroom.”
