US PREP has made diversity, equity, and inclusion a critical focus, working intently to ensure its commitment is clearly reflected within all of the aspects of the US PREP coalition work.

We believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion require continuous and intentional commitments to support healthy communities and the overall success of present and future generations. Fostering equity is a process, and we seek to maintain and promote the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and accountability. We believe that cultivating an environment in which people of all backgrounds can thrive is critical to achieving our mission of teacher preparation excellence. 

As a coalition, we are committed to:

• Engaging in conversations around our biases, race, and equity
• Developing mindsets and beliefs that all students can learn at high levels
• Equipping teacher educators and teacher candidates with the knowledge and skills to teach grade-level standards and implement quality, standards-aligned instructional materials for all P-12 students

"As a teacher preparation support organization, we are charged with equipping the next generation of educators with the mindsets and tools necessary to provide a quality education to all students across the United States. Because historical forces have resulted in inequitable educational opportunities for students across different races and class, we are particularly committed to taking action to enable educators to redress the balance,” stated Collins. 

As we look to the future, we choose to use the lens of diversity, equity and inclusion for the betterment of ourselves, our member providers and school district partners as we continue to build new mindsets, beliefs and patterns of those in charge of influencing our future leaders.
