On March 20, US PREP coalition partners convened virtually to address the challenges in shifting clinical experiences to virtual formats. The interactive virtual session started out by prompting leaders to share what they have learned in this short time, recognizing that often times, challenging times can result in new innovations and ideas. As the session continued, teacher preparation leaders shared the challenges they are facing. One of the biggest areas of struggle was how to facilitate high-quality experiences in virtual formats. All of the coalition members emphasized the importance of ensuring candidates meet the performance benchmarks that they have established with their district partners, but this can be difficult to accomplish when candidates do not have access to their k-12 placements.
